Your Private Ozashiki

Ozashiki are traditionally arranged through a personal introduction. At Miyakodori, first-time guests are welcome.

Miyakodori, since 1950

Miyakodori’s okami entered Asakusa’s geisha world in 1969, when she debuted as a hangyoku, an apprentice geisha. More than 55 years later, she oversees Asakusa’s only machiai-chaya — a traditional house where private ozashiki are arranged.

1Your ozashiki

An afternoon — or an evening — in a room that is yours alone.

  • Dance and live shamisen, an arm’s length away — the geisha perform in your room, not on a stage.
  • The room is yours — a private tatami room for your party. No other guests, nothing shared.
  • English interpretation is part of every plan — talk with the geisha, and ask anything you like.
  • One, two or three hours — you choose the length in a moment.

An Asakusa distinction

The Asakusa kenban is the only registry in Japan with formally active hōkan — entertainers known in English as male geisha. Miyakodori can offer a hōkan as an optional addition to your ozashiki.

Would you come in the afternoon, or in the evening?

We ask for your date at the end. This is a request rather than a live calendar — we reply within 2 business days, and your booking is confirmed by that reply.

Choose afternoon or evening to continue.
